My Salomon Amphibians are pretty beat after years of use. Any recommendations for good light river/ocean shoes that drain well but keep out pebbles? Editing to add that the Amphibian is a flawed design for an active water shoe in that the open heel lets in rocks which can slice up your feet. Two others I've found so far with protection all around:

Columbia Powervent

NRS Crush Shoe

A new replacement pair of Salomon Amphibians? I haven't seen anything better.

I should have added – the Tech Amphibian is a flawed design so prefer a new shoe – the open heel lets in rocks which can slice your feet up. Plus I find they can run narrow.

Found the Columbia Powervent which has mesh all around and should be more protective. Seems you can find it for only $48 now too. http://www.columbia.com/mens-powervent-BM2592.html

Also found a kayak shoe at NRS, called the Crush Shoe – looks very durable with drainage but not as breathable (little mesh, though upper made of nylon): http://www.nrs.com/product/30043.01/nrs-mens-crush-water-shoe
