I was just at Costco yesterday and the Cascade Mountain flick-lock poles are available for $29.99 – a great value IMHO. Not the lightest or the coolest but a good deal.

To reduce the vibration noise, would using rubber tips help any????

Rubber tips won't help at all. The issue is in the connection between the sections. The one and only thing that's worked for me is to try replacing the bottom section with an aluminum section from another pole, as suggested upthread by Billy Ray (btw, thanks for the great tip Billy!).

"After trying many of the "fixes" I've come to the conclusion that there isn't a good permanent remedy to the noise and that it is loud enough to make me want to avoid using the poles. It is a shame because I really like them otherwise." Hi Robin, There is a permanent remedy…and it's quite easy…if you can find the correct plugs. Here's what I did: http://www.backpackinglight.com/cgi-bin/backpackinglight/forums/thread_display.html?forum_thread_id=106326
