Hello everyone,

I am thinking about starting my PCT hike in Cascade Locks but I have a hard time finding public transport there…
I just found a bus connecting the nothern side of Columbia River with Vancouver, WA. But then there is no greyhound there….

Dows anybody have experience there??

Where would you be coming from? PDX?

Trimet (Portland's mass transit system) has a link to CAT (Columbia Area Transit), here:

Look halfway down the page at the "Gorge Translink."

Looks like they run a Tuesday & Thursday Gorge route, connecting Portland and Hood River. I'd guess that would include a Cascade Locks stop, but I don't know.

Also, there are many thru-hikers and BPLers in the Portland area who could give you a ride. I'll do it if it works with my schedule, so feel free to PM me.

Thanks so much :-)

I will ask at the Gorge bus if they can drop us off at Cascade Locks as they pass by.

I will fly to Seattle (from Germany) and then head down to Portland with a Greyhound bus.

Thanks for the offer to take us there! Actually I never thought of that… I might come back to it.

From SeaTac, you can take light rail into downtown Seattle. From there, I would consider an Amtrak train from Seattle to Union Station in Portland. Portland's downtown is fairly compact and very walkable or there is light rail.

There are numerous places to stay in downtown Portland. If you wanted an affordable option (especially if you were only here a night), we do have a hostel, very close to a grocery store and a Trader Joe's (a chain store but with great snacks for hiking). Here:

Edit: the hostel is also close to a REI, for anything last minute things you might need.
