Has anyone been out there in the last week or so? I'm planning on leading a group out to Lake Aloha via the Ralston trailhead this weekend (4/25). Just wondering how much snow to expect on trail, and near the lake/surrounding lakes.

Also might try to do pyramid peak on our goof-off day, think an ice axe would be useful?

Thanks, i was unaware of that site. Super useful! Now there is projected 5-9in of snow on saturday. Not sure if we will go now. The camping i feel good about, but getting everyone out there during a snowstorm.. i'm unsure.

Anyone have opinions on hiking in? It's supposed to snow during the day, then taper off and be done by 11pm. We probably wouldn't get to the TH til 3pm.

" We probably wouldn't get to the TH til 3pm."

That's about when the temperature starts to drop… if it was rain up to that point it often turns to snow about then… or an hour later.

I decided to scrap saturday. I didn't want to get out into the storm in the evening and have to deal with losing daylight if we decided to turn around.

Instead we will leave Sunday morning armed with snowshoes and a couple ice axes. We can get up there in the AM, then see how it goes. Dayhike w/ packs or light snow camping. Should be good prep for our JMT thru in july either way.

Safer this way, plus i have a habit of scaring off potential adventure partners. Best to ease them in slow… :)
