I was wondering if Polartec Alpha is like other synthetic insulation and will loose its insulating properties over time permanently? Thank you.

I'm sure Alpha will degrade eventually. My assumption is that it will do so much slower than Primaloft, like the various kinds of Climashield.

I mentioned this previously in another thread, but Richard Nilsey commented that Polartec Power Dry Hi Loft (the furry stuff) seems to retain loft over time even though Primaloft, Climashield, etc, loses their loft.

If that's the case, and Polartec Alpha is a descendent of Power Dry Hi Loft, then perhaps Alpha also similarly retains loft over time.

That would be nice if Alpha can last like Thermal Pro.  It would make me want to buy one.  I have seen 60/80/100g type Alpha insulation.  What are these comparable to?

As the clo/oz op Alpha is estimated as 0,28 to 0,37, you would need ~2,5 to 3 times the weight of equivalent Primaloft One/Gold.

2.5x to 3x the weight of Alpha to equate to the weight of Gold/One for the same clo?

So my 80gm2 strata is the equivalent of about 30gm2 primaloft one, that seems

right to me from my useage.
