I'm looking to get out with my brother and do three days of backpacking, then meet up with my wife and 18 month daughter and do an easy overnighter. It would be both of the ladies first time backpacking, even though they both are veteran car campers…
My first thought was to do the Pemi Loop, meet them at Lincoln Woods and then hike up the Lincoln Woods Trail and overnight at 13 Falls, or maybe Franconia Brook if they aren't up for the walk. But we'd be going the last week of June and my wife would be getting there during the weekend and I'd assume that those places would be really, really busy.
I'm sure finding something equal to the grandeur of the Pemi Wilderness that is easily accessible AND not overrun in the end of June is a tall order, but any thoughts?
By the way we are coming from NJ to pick up my brother in RI. Generally we head north, But he could take a bus to NYC, which would open up the catskills and the Adirondacks
