What's the typical longevity of a PU-coated floor not in terms of abrasion, but in terms of the PU coming off with time?
I'm in the process of replacing a +10 year old car camping tent. While it's in great shape, the fly looks great and there's no visible flaking of the fly whatsoever you can smell a PU chemical smell that probably means the PU coating is starting to go. The PU-coated floor is still going strong, probably because I used it with a ground cloth and it's not exposed to UV like the fly. Which got me thinking:
Given the choice of two new same-model tents with PU-coated floors, both new/never used in the box, all other things being equal but one being a 2-3 year old model and one a one year old model, is there any reason to stay away from the slightly older model?
