Hi,
I am 32, male, and live in Denver, CO. I moved hear a year ago and am looking for an experienced backpacking partner. I have posted elsewhere and received some very weird responses. I don't know why I didn't think to post here first. I am sure that everyone here knows that if you list a 5 gallon collapsible water bag, camp shower, or 4 person coleman tent in your equipment list, you probably aren't who I am looking for.
Anyways… I have Friday through Sunday off every week and I would like to find someone that shares my schedule. I would like to backpack nearly every weekend this year. This coming weekend (4/17) I am thinking of doing a one nighter at Domineguez Canyon Wilderness or some similar place (while everything high is still snowy).
I would focus on Colorado due to proximity but also want to backpack in Utah, Wyoming (Wind Rivers), and Yellowstone (worked there for a while and know some nice spots).
I am not crazy ultralight but I am weight conscious. Travel would be Thursday night (if necessary) or Friday, and back by Sunday evening.
I would like to keep the first couple of hikes somewhat sane as last season I went balls to the walls right off the bat and ended up with an irritated IT band. That caused me to limp out of the mountains for about ten miles with a locked up knee. I do not want that to happen again. I have tossed aside my 500lb all leather Vasque boots and have opted for hiking shoes.
I hope to hear from people that are serious and are ready to go now.
>Paul
