I am I the market for a new scale. Any scales out there that are extremely accurate and reliable? Digital better than analog?

i like my ozeri touch that goes to 18#. Only drawback I've found is it goes though batteries (cr2032) a bit quicker than I'd like.

if you live in a province or state that has seen the ganja enlightenment

those shops which dispense the "medical" product have very accurate scales for sale

for good reason …

;)

I am a lab tech who does not believe in the legalization of drugs. I've done one to many drug screens on people. But thanks anyway. Let's just keep this about scales that can weigh backpacking gear.

maybe it IS backpacking gear…FAK

Sorry, carry on :)

just because a scale was "designed" to weigh drugs or gold doesn't mean it can't be used to weigh backpacking gear

maybe you don't want to buy it from a drug store, or a gold store – amazon.com has a lot of good scales

I'm sure that are many options out there that will do the job, but I have 2 scales and I am very happy with them both. When they fail I will buy the same again.

For individual items: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001RF3XJ2/
.01 gm resolution, 2 kg limit, Tare, <$20

For the fully packed backpack, to…you know…double check my spreadsheet calculations :)
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0012T9QNA
<$14

Both use regular old AAA batteries.

I have your first one. Works good for me. Must be intended for weighing gold because they have units of ozt (troy ounces for gold) and dwt (silver)

I also have the same one; it's excellent.

For weighing a full pack, I have (and like) this one:

I use an AWS Postal scale. It handles up to 55lbs in 0.1oz increments, shifts to metric, has tare and hold reading functions and runs on AA batteries. The platform is an acceptable size and can be supplemented with a basket to weigh less cooperative items.

I would like one with a remote readout for bigger, clumsier items. It can be a challenger to get to the hold reading button on the side.

Or if you work in a clinic, use the baby scale like I do for weighing backpacks. Cheap and accurate..

5000g x 1g, $8, free shipping, about 3 weeks from China:

Digital is nice because they all have a "tare" button. You can put a bowl on it, zero it, and then weigh awkwardly-shaped items. I have a range of these scales around the house that I've bought off of eBay and never had a problem with them, as long as I could wait 2-3 weeks for them to arrive.

I've had this one for five years now, easy on batteries and accurate- only goes up to 6.6 lbs, but that should cover most UL items :)

I own this one, no complaints, thousands of other reviewers feel the same :) $12.50
