I stumbled across a photo of this pack, was curious so did some research and couldn't find much online as far as reviews or feedback. Has anyone used one of these?

Weight is spec'ed at 16oz. Get rid of the webbing belt, sternum strap and trim some straps and I bet you'd be around 13.

The blue and gray doesn't look too bad but man, that brown/orange/tan one is ugly as sin. Of course, the side mesh pockets are going to be somewhat fragile. I have no idea why they put load lifters on a pack with this small of volume. Mesh pockets on the shoulder straps could go away.

Anyway, if you have used one, I'd like to hear some feedback.

You can find 8 BPL user reviews right here.

It has/had often been used as one of the inexpensive/easier-to-find frameless packs for an intro to UL backpacking. I almost bought one when I first started down this path, but then I borrowed a friend's instead, and used a MYOG after.

EDIT: I'd like to add that I'm not sure what has changed over the years–some of the reviews are nearly 10 years old. So you might want to look further to be sure it's still a good pack.

I have one of the earlier models of the original ~55L Virga. Granite Gear released a Virga 2 last year which kept the same weight but added a padded hip belt and stretchy mesh rear pocket by using updated materials and thinner webbing. The OP is asking about the Virga 26 which is a substantially smaller 26L version of these tried and true packs. Not much out there in terms of reviews yet. My one complaint, which reviews may not find a problem with, is that there is only one torso size available with the 26L version.

But, I have a GG Blaze AC60 that is my favorite pack, when I have to carry a bear canister. GG makes some solid "lightweight" packs. Not ultralight. But, reasonable weights. I wouldn't be afraid to try any of their packs for any reason (comfort, durability, and weight standpoints).

The thing I find so amazing about the Blaze is the strength and comfort of the frame, belt, and straps for a sub three pound pack. The only other "lightweight" pack that has really impressed me on my longer trips without a resupply has been my 2014 Osprey Exos 58. I can already tell that it will not be nearly as durable as my Blaze though.

My concern with the Virga 26 is that it's offered in one size only. My assumption is that the torso length will be on the short size, thus making for less than ideal load carry for taller folks, even if you don't use a belt.

If anyone owns one and can post straight line measurement from base to middle of shoulder straps, and from base to load lifters, I'd appreciate it.
