I was wondering recently too, how well this "flew" last season. Not much mention or for sales.

PM Manfred Kopisch – he has one, which he used at Coe on the fishing trip last month (see his trip report).
I just noticed that SMD is now selling the larger version of the Wild Oasis, the Deschutes Plus.
Looks nice. If Ron also made these in cuben I'd buy one right now.
Anybody seen one of these set up?
I've also looked at this tarp and would like feedback. Ron also updated the normal Deschutes tarp to extend the zipper and adding a vent.
Jennifer,
I have the “old” Deschutes in Cuben without the longer zipper and vent. The longer zipper is a highly welcome improvement. I’m 6’1″ and always felt it would be so much easier to get into the Deschutes if the zipper was longer. I never had issues with condensation, so I can’t say how much of an improvement the vent is.
Several of the Henry Coe trips linked in here show pictures of the Deschutes. In one report there are pictures of Andrew’s Hexamid next to my Deschutes. They are very similar, but I prefer the Deschutes.
I own a Gatewood Cape and the Deschutes fits just so much better for me as it offers more space. It works with the same Serenity Net that I already own for my Gatewood Cape which comes in handy when the mosquitoes are out.
The Deschutes rolls up into a quart-sized zip-lock bag which is an important factor for me when going on multi-day trips with my Zpacks Zero pack.
The Deschutes has served me well and I would buy it again – especially now with the new longer zipper.

I have an odd question. Has anyone ever tried using an MLD Solonet with one of these tarps? I'm currently using a Khufu but I'd like to get a smaller 1p shelter when it's just me on the trail. If a Deschutes worked with the Solonet I already own then I'd be mighty tempted to give it a try. Thanks.
Member Matthew Frye ( I think it's Matthew but I know his name is Frye) is using a Cuben version on his AT thru this year. I met him his first night out at Hawk Mountsin shelter. He seemed to like it and it looked like it would provide great coverage. Maybe he'll see this one day in town and comment.
It looks like the SMD website has run out of this years Deschutes in CF. Luckily for me, I have one on the way from AntiGravity Gear.
