First, I'm new here and trying to make my first backpack so I apologize if I'm doing this all wrong ;). I've tried searching the forum for this information but couldn't find it but maybe I just don't know the right terms to use. I am following all of the great advice on this forum to build a backpack. I want it to be like one I have but using a different material and hopefully a bit 'sleaker' look. I'm not trying to figure out what I need to get to make a rail slider for the chest strap like the one in this picture:Chest Strap Slider

This slider is a plastic clip that hooks over some sort of piping and slides up and down to adjust the height of the chest strap. Does anyone know where I can find the parts to do this or even what the parts would be called (both the clip and the piping)? Any other ideas that accomplish the same thing? Thanks, I'm very excited I found this forum!

I too am in the same boat. piecing together the best designs to make a custom backpack. all my old packs have chest traps that slide on nylon but I realized it is for mass marketing purposes and if I were making a custom pack then I could minimize the weight by setting it in a single spot that works best for me under a full load, it could always be refitted too as a top application the same way it got on there. Plus any rigid material added to gear generally racks up the ounces.
