James I miss the BPL gear shop too, but there are alternatives that are very good.

Quilts – For snythetic quilts companies like Mountain Laurel Designs and Enlightened Equipment have good prodects. Down quilts are made by a number of other companies like Nunatuk.

Packs – Companies like ULA, Gossamer Gear and MLD offer very good packs. For example the Circuit pack is a good alternative to the BPL Absaroka pack.

Tarps – Lots of companies have tarps similar to what BPL used to sell. Again Mountain Laurel Designs, pluse Gossamer Gear, Zpacks etc.

Ken – That statement is based on accessibility. Anyone with accessibility to the internet could use the online store as a 24/7 resource. The lessons benefit those who can take them, either people who live close enough, or people who can travel to them.

Luke – Thanks for pointing me towards some great cottage companies. I'm familiar with a lot of the popular cottages, but what I appreciated about BPL was more about the odds and ends, and UL accessory items. It was a bit of why I got a membership.
