Hey all, while I'm fairly new to the UL/SUL community, I'm no virgin adventurer. I've done many an expedition, both solo and in groups, and have got my priorities straight. But different from the norm of backpacking, I'm taking on a new look to an old love of mine, long distance push longboarding, or LDP for short. Im in the market for a new pack, and I'm stuck between two. I've been looking at the Exos 38 and the Mutant 38, and I need a good review, comparison, and decision on which would be the better pack. I also looked at the Zpacks Arc series, but I'm not sure the extra wait and expense would be worth it. Whichever pack I go with will be taking it's maiden voyage on a 1700mile long trip from Massachusetts all the way down the coast to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Now, before anyone tells me that 38L isn't nearly enough room for such a voyage, I want to make it clear that my tent won't be a problem space wise, as I'll be using my trusty Nemo Gogo LE, and as for supplies, I'll be able to restock in some of the towns and cities along the route. I'll be camping out for nearly all the trip. That being said, this pack is also going to be used when I head up to show my fiance the wonders of Acadia National Park this June. I'm definitely drawn more toward the Mutant at this point, both due to the fact that it is only 2oz heavier and more functional all around for a fraction of the price, especially with the current deal going on Whiskey Militia for a measly 80 dollars, whereas the Exos is literally twice that. I also like that I can stow my helmet on top of the pack with the helmet strap, making more room accessible in my pack itself. That being said, I'm not familiar with the framesheet, and more used to a conventional frame like on the Exos, if not beefier on other packs I've used. I'd love some insight from the truly knowledgeable community here and it's greatly appreciated. Thanks.
