I was gifted a cut NeoAir by a BPL member a few years ago. He cut it down to 42" and apparently had troubles resealing it, as well as trouble with a few small holes in it.

I was able to re-seal the cut and patch the remaining leak.

Being 6'2", however, made the 42" length feel a bit short, leaving my legs hanging too much off of a ledge right at the thigh.

I recently figured out how to remedy the issue. By mating my Montbell pillow with the NeoAir, I can effectively extend the length, allowing me to sleep comfortably with my shoulder at the top edge of the mat, knees at the bottom edge.

I made few loops to attach the pillow's tabs using seam grip, some nylon, and mason twine. The pillow now mates securely and effectively lengthens the pad.

Total weight is exactly 10 ounces (2.6 pillow, 7.4 for the cut Thermarest). What I especially like is the fact that it's actually lighter than my 3/4 length Ridgerest (8.2 ounces) but far more comfortable for a side sleeper. And very compact.

I installed a valve on the remaining short section (~30") of the pad hoping to use it for one of my children but it was still too short…toddler sized. So that piece got sent up to Alaska for Erin and Hig's youngest child.

How did you attach the nylon loops to the NeoAir? Are they sewn on and then the stitches sealed? Or is the nylon glued on with the seam grip? I like the idea of keeping my pillow from squirting off all over the place.

Just clamped and glued with seam grip. Beyond lengthening my pad, it's a trick I use on all my inflatables to keep the pillow in place. On closed cell foam, I add grommets.
