Since buying my first panel access backpack I strongly prefer them. Usually the maker will put the zipper on the front; Muji has put the panel on the back, under the shoulder straps. I thought this was very clever. The foam back folds back really opening up the main compartment.

Years ago when I was travelling, I had my pack unzipped by a local while in a crowd – luckily, I felt the tug in time and nothing became of it. Same thing just last year while abroad. That style of opening would solve this problem.
Looks as though the pack can be accessed from the front or the back – if it were only able to be opened from behind the shoulder straps, it would be a winner for traveling.
At least some of the older Osprey day packs had this feature. With regular panel loading packs, you set the shoulder strap side of the pack in the dirt to load/unload your pack. This does away with that.
