Ultralite tent

There are several options out there. Three that come to mind are

Gossamer Gear/Tarptent Squall
Tarptent Squall 2
Tarptent Double Rainbow
Tarptent Rainshadow 2 (3 person model but a palace for 2!)
Six Moon Designs Lunar Duo

I believe that all of these have been reviewed by BPL, so you should be able to find them here by doing a search. If you're interested in sewing your own gear, there's always the Ray-Way Tarp and Net Tent kit.

My wife & I really like our Hex 3 but check Black Diamond. They make an assortment of pyramid tents too, which are lightweight. Also, you probably saw the recent review article here at BPL about SMD's Luna Duo. That tent has me salivating.

A double rainbow was the only way i got to convince my wife to leave our 4lb tent at home.
and to be honest i really love it too.

My wife agreed to go trekking with me only when I got her the Tenttarp Rainshadow2. It is a palace for 2. It gives the flexibility to bring our youngest child (10 year old) if it pleases her. Heavy at 44oz…but PPP at 1.3lb per person is not bad. However, I may swap it the Squall and lose 12oz but also the space.

Same, and the fact that this can be pitched freestanding with 2 doors and 2 vestibules – killer tent IMO.

When it is sleeting outside and the wind is doing over 30 mph and there is no shelter around … my wife and I get in our tent and RELAX! We're home, warm and drying.

Those of you with the Double rainbow, what is the actual carry weight of it. It lists at 40oz but does that include the stakes, stuff sack, etc…

When i received it :
the DR + 6 stakes + Pole + stuffsack was closer to 41 oz than to 40 oz.
i just packed it for a one week trip in the french alp so the weight :
– seam sealed
– with 8 stakes in original stake sac.
– with a small ziplock with 4 additionals guylines ( aircore nano + Micro tensionner )
– with the poles
– in stuffsack

is 1218g

the 2 additional stakes and 4 guyline
– are for staking the 2 doors open, with my wife trekking poles and mine.
– i could use them for extra wind stability,
quoting Henry answer to my mail about fixations :

the added loops on the ridge :
"Yes, those are additional pullout loops and it looks like you have made use
of them. Unless you have very high winds, you should not need to use them"

the grommels :
"Lastly, there are grommets up under each vent, at the ends of the cross
strut. Those grommets support vertical trekking / ski poles if you want to
use them and will add a lot of support in high winds or heavy snowfall."

My Double Rainbow, straight out of the shipping box and onto the scale weighs in at 40.55 oz.

These Terra Nova sound nice, not sure about shipping. Argon 900 sleeps 2 under 3 lb, the Laser at just over looks better:
