I got a pair of North Face Runners 3 rain mitts. I haven't seen anything about them on here, so thought I would put the word out. Haven't used them yet besides a walk to work (during which they performed admirably) so I can't say too much about them but they seem nice. They are North Face's HyVent (I could pull some air through during my super scientific mouth-breathability test) and have taped seams. I usually wear a small or medium in gloves and the large in these seems to work well with liners underneath. They came in at .9 oz and 28$ at backcountry right now. So pretty much lighter and cheaper than anything else I could find.

Very nice.

Is the membrane protected by an inner fabric layer (i.e. 3 layer construction), nothing (2 layer) or a printed pattern (2.5 layer)?

I have MEC Cloudraker Mitts which are a similar idea but the membrane was pretty thin and didn't hold up to trekking pole use. For runners, or maybe with a fleece layer inside, it would be good.

I bought a pair of these as a gift, so had a chance to look at them. They are nice mitts, I'm more of a glove person. Great weight & price vs the alternatives.

I own a pair. Think I paid about $35 last nov? At rei after a few days of ice cold Washington rain. Haven't been able to give them much testing yet either, but what I have seen they do there job decently although I do expect them to wet out. Wish they had a way to tighten them at the cuff. The elastic seems to ride down on my my wrists. Over all I like them but I'm thinkin about making a pair out of some cuben.

The fabric is 2 layer HyVent. Definitely thin. The silicone grips may help a little with the trekking poles. We'll see I guess.

I agree about the cuffs. a closure mechanism would be nice. The elastic doesn't seem that bad to me though.

I have these and the wrist is comically tight. You have to size up just to barely fit them on.
I don't understand why it was so difficult for me to find a thin rain glove. Maybe I'm just terrible at googling.
