They list that item doesn't ship to stores. But if you buy anything over $2 everything ships free.
This is a great price, if I didn't have that color already I'd buy it (might anyway)

Man…its taking me a lot to not purchase the Houdini at this price….

I'm trying to justify it over my Fauxdini from ebay, which weighs 2.7 oz. So, the Houdini would have longer sleeves which is my main annoyance with the fauxdini, but what else would justify the additional 1.3 oz (or more if I get a larger size Houdini).

And….does anybody know about sizing? I wear an R1 and R2 in size Large, am 5'10, 170lb athletic build, but want a Houdini that I can wear over my r2 comfortably….and even over something like a montbell ex lite jacket in 3 season use.

I like the arm length of the Houdini. I'm 6'2", 175 lbs.. I wear a large and it fits well.

I purchased a XL 3 years ago in case I wanted to wear it over a MB Inner so as not to constrict movement. I haven't taken it out of the packaging to even try it on, no need. The two times I wore both I just put the MB inner on the outside with no issues.
YMMV

You want a large if you want any other layer underneath. I just snagged one at the outlet during the 50% sale for the same price.

I don't see them there at the site…perhaps already sold out?

That was quick. Or a pricing mistake that they yanked.

So…

It is not very breathable. Why would anyone buy it, even if it was only $0.99 ?

With the new Houdini you might as well use a non-breathable rain jacket ;)

"With the new Houdini you might as well use a non-breathable rain jacket ;)"

+1

I used a new model Houdini jogging in the teens this winter. With a cap2 base layer, I was dripping in about 10 minutes.

At least not according to the piece John posted. Everyone can fetishize the 2012 model but there's no real reason to.

The one thing I didn't quite understand with the article is….which version of the Houdini were they talking about? It was a recent article (feb. 2015)

Well, the problem with the outdoorgearlab review is that it doesn't mention anything about the updated fabric. It seems like the whole review wasn't edited much at all from the original Houdini review. I bet that they haven't really reviewed it or compared it to the previous version, besides just making sure features haven't changed (like if they added pockets or something)

The picture in the review looks like the earlier model. The newer ones have a flap over the chest pocket.

I have a newer version, which I wear when walking the dog in windy weather and when camping with my wife. Not very breathable. On camping trips I also take my old Houdini for day hikes.

I also have a Montbel Taychon wind pant, also only for camping. It is VERY breathable, but I don't bring wind pants backpacking. If I were in the market for a new backpacking windshirt, I would probably get a Montbel Taychon, based on my experience with the wind pants.
