I'm looking for a 3/4 pant that isn't all cotton that I can wear during fringe season. I usually hike in gaiters and shorts but I'm looking for a little more protection. I thought Mountain Hardwear used to make some, but I can't find them anywhere now. Any ideas?

    Prana makes Man-pris.
So does Pearl Izumi (Boulder Knicker).
The PI is pretty light with some stretch. The chamois is removable.
Ibex used to make the Gnarly Knicker in merino wool.

Any pair of pants can become 3/4 length with a pair of sissors. That's an easy MYOG.

I got a pair of REI Schoeller Dynamic pants on sale and made knickers out of them; worked great (and what a great material for shoulder season activities), and used excess material to make small cargo pockets. REI, Prana, Sickle, and Swobo all make great knickers as well.
