After many years of sticking with the same gear, I'm going through somewhat of a makeover. Shaving a couple pounds with my bag and pack, and have narrowed it down to two quilts. My lady is doing the same, and while we considered a joint quilt, we're going to pursue two singles.

I'm a cold sleeper, so we're planning on a 10 degree for me and a 20 degree for her (she's a furnace).

Me
EE Revelation 10 degree – Long Wide – Fill: 18.77 800 GDD – Total 25.41 oz – $285 – equivalent to 17.6oz 850 down
Hammock Gear Burrow 20 w/ 3oz Overfill – Long Wide – fill weight: 17 oz 850 – total 23.4 oz – $311

Her
EE Revelation 20 degree – reg reg – Fill 13.81 800 GDD – Total 20 oz $250
Hammock Gear Burrow 20 – Standard – Fill 12 oz 850 – Total 17.3 oz – $250

I think I'm going to prefer the footbox zip of the EE quilts, and the width is wider if I'm reading all the literature correctly. I also like how the EE comes with straps.

Is there anything else I should consider? Leaning toward the EE quilts. Also, with a multiple order discount, the Hammock Gear order with shipping would actually come to $10 less than the EE order. Would greatly appreciate any input!

Both of those companies make great products – I've owned both. I prefer the foot box zip and straps of the EE quilts.

I had HG make me a 58" wide quilt with half taper and snap footbox. I am very happy with it. They seem to have no problem with making any custom sizing you need. Last year when I purchased it, it was a much better deal when compared with a similarly spec'd EE. I've also owned EE quilts, and they are very nice. I found the two quilts to be so similar in quality, design, and value, that the deciding factor just came down to price.

HG made my quilt 58" wide as well.

I've owned quilts from both companies and I've never felt the need to use straps. I prefer just rolling a little to one side then the other to get the quilt under me. HG puts little triangle plastic thingies on their quilts and the offer a shockcord system to attach it to a pad. I've been thinking about trying that (I'll use my own shockcord) to see if I realize I've been missing something but I've been happy over probably 50 nights iunder a quilt without attaching it…

for colder weather quilts I'd want the sewn footbox, the HG footbox is a traditional mummy style footbox, vs a flat sewn one on the EE- I think the mummy style one, while more difficult to construct is superior, for warmer weather quilts an open end makes more sense

the quality of both companies is very high, so in the end you can't really go wrong

I'd echo the comment that HG (and possibly EE as well) will definitely work with you as far as customizing width, length, fill adjustments

I am trying to make a quick decision on which to order myself. Any new insights!

Burrow 20 vs Revelation 800 20.

I owned a HG 20* burrow 900 with overfill and still own a 40* EE enigma. Both are great companies and both quilts were well constructed. I am a cold sleeper as well and the HG just did not keep me warm. At 30* I was cold even with supplementing clothes. So the HG was sold and I bought a Katabatic Sawatch which is much more expensive but it is a completely different experience. Between the loft, which is unbelievable, and the attachment system I can sleep to 20* with just a base layer and be toasty warm. If I had to chose between the EE and the HG I would choose the EE due to their vertical baffles.

Interesting that you found the Katabatic to be so much more lofty. Obviously it's a colder-rated bag but if you look at the actual amounts of down included, with some overfill in the Burrow they should be very similar in loft.
I just received my Burrow 20 with 2oz of overfill. It's very well made, and weight is as-advertised, but I haven't had a cold night outside in it yet. I was a bit surprised at how much time and shaking it took to get the loft looking acceptable compared to my old WM bags. It was really clumpy and lots of empty spots. Looks good now though.

Agree with the logic but you have to see it to believe it. It must be the way differential cut and the tensioned opening on the back.

I have made one quilt with vertical baffles and like it much better.

I also think Argon is a much better fabric as an interior than a shell.
EE has better wind and dew resistance while still being very breathable.

I would chose the EE any day over the Burrow just for the vertical baffles but would also chose the Enigma on anything warmer than a 30* quilt.

I own an Enlightened Equipment Quilt with a snap and drawstring footbox. It has the baffle quilt boxes and I don't like the way the down moves out of the edges of the quilt.

My buddy bought a Hammock Gear Burrow 20 degree with 3oz overstuff and it never lofted up the way I thought it should have… even after laying out several days. I think part of the problem is that the down channels are wider than they could/should be.

This Christmas I got a 20 degree Flight Jacket quilt from Underground Quilts with a sewn footbox and it is an AMAZING piece of gear. Lofts very similarly to my old Western Mountaineering down bag.

I would STRONGLY consider looking at Underground Quilts as you make your decision.

Recently made the move from a WM Megalite (that I loved for 10 years) to EE quilts. 30* Revelation and 10* Enigma.
Love them. Not going back. Unreservedly recommend EE. I'm sure the other brands mentioned are equally loved by their owners however.
