True, some grosgrain ribbon loops would add nearly no additional weight. Hmm, they'd make seam taping a bit funky in those spots, but offer no other disadvantages I can see.

I figured that without pics on the site, people would be hesitant to purchase these bags. I was Wrong! Every bag ordered so far has been shipped, I took a few pics to give an idea of what folks are getting. But I won't have any well-lit pictures of all color options until I'm back in town the second week of April. Turns out, my cozy little basement sewing studio isn't quite set up ideally for production in the volume I'm experiencing, so lots of time has been spent re-organizing space and setting up efficient systems for production.
I will also have X33 Multi cam at that time and lots of folks seem excited about that option.
Keeping my head down and sewing up a storm, I apologize if my website feels vague. The administrative stuff is gonna wait until I'm back in town.
Two styles of removable Front packs coming soon.
Cheers!
Awesome stuff.
What are you thinking for the mesh pocket? I'd like to see an elastic closure mesh pocket suitable for stuffing wet things.
I'll second the call for sit-pad tabs as I too use a cushy inflatable pad.
For a "group design" process this is working quite smoothly.
The packs look great Nathan, glad they're selling well.
Simple elastic-topped Mesh pocket are great, I've been playing around with designs for a single piece of mesh, for both front and side pockets. Easy enough.
25-35 Liter version with added webbing waist belt, Daisy Chain, additional tieouts and compression pack
Also Featuring dual internal carbon Stays and 3/4" Convoluted foam removable back padding
In cloud grey and black X21/X51
19.5oz as pictured

Live the color combinations and just placed an order for mine. Grey with black. Really looking forward to this becoming my "go to" three-season pack.
Thanks,
James :)
These look great and I'm looking forward to buying a larger version if it's made available.
I have a couple questions about the top compression straps. Now, I like that the whole body continues up into the collar, which saves a seam between the two. However, this requires the Y-straps (compression thing) to terminate in that little diamond patch in the middle of the body. It breaks up the pack's seamless lines and symmetry.
What if you just run two daisy chains up the whole body of the pack, then run the top compression straps from the shoulder straps, over top, and down to connect— via a buckle or hook —to the top of the daisy chains?
To my eye, this wouldn't look any more cluttered, and it would add a lot of versatility.
Here's a shot of the Seal Line packs with a similar system, although these terminate in patches, too, rather than the double daisy chains I envision.

About Symmetry: I try to place the diamond patch square in the center, I believe this makes it symmetrical ;)
But seriously, I hear what you're saying. I like the single strap because it isn't dependent on the daisy chains to exist.(some folks don't want or like daisy chains)
One major design goal for this pack was to create a base pattern that could be added to/modified/built upon without drastic modification of the original base pattern. The pattern will be made freely available to MYOG tinkerers and I want something that is accessible to folks without years of sewing experience. I'll know I have reached my goal, when I see someone on the trail who is using my design and have made the bag themselves :)
Building the top compression around Daisy chains, means that they HAVE to be included.
Also, daisy chains are generally at a height that may be problematic if they terminate in webbing that compresses the top. Having the bag nearly empty would make these straps superfluous, floppy and in the way. (In my design, The roll top can be buckled to itself, after removing the side compression straps and top yoke, making the bag simple and minimalistic when the max volume isn't needed)
I can see a design using a strap that can connect to the daisy chain loops at any given height, alleviating this problem, but then you have two straps rather than one, and you can't appeal to the fashion-hounds that DEMAND a contrasting diamond reinforcement patch ;)
But hey, I'll build anything you want if the price is right :)
Hi Nathan, I noticed the option to add side / front pockets on your website, in particular on the Lowline Pack. Are those stretch pockets? And if not, would it be possible to have a custom modification adding side and front pockets in stretchy mesh or lycra / spandex material? The pocket do not need to be see-thru, so either would do, as long as it stretches a lot and makes for a slim profile when not in use.
And a side question: would adding a small (zipped?) pocket on the inside with a tiny keychain as seen frequently on commercial bags make sense as a standard option? Just to attach the car keys and hold your ID. I always pay extra attention to the car keys and try to put them somewhere I know I won't need to reach for for the duration of the trip. A small dedicated pocket would be welcome, even on a UL bag.
Thanks!
edited because it affects an innocent party. Sorry.
Everything I have boughten from Nathan has been a good deal. Exclusive to members, Where else do you him advertise?
Great looking packs.
I didn't realize that rule existed when this thread was created.
I can adapt to changing rules.
Must be my lucky day that Kat decided to flag this one, among 'dozens of other threads'.
Almost like winning the lottery ;)
Sorry. I can delete if you like. Did not mean it to affect you but obviously it does.
@ Kat.,nice one :-)
Such a small amount of extra weight, but such a huge increase in flexibility and functionality.
Cheers
Oh yeah. Camo pack cometh. As soon as we both finish our roadtrips. 2,000/2,500. X33 and cuben. Daisies and a deal. Found here on BPL. Hopefully Nathan will post some pictures. It promises to be a beauty.
Kat, I think the difference is in attitude of the poster. Many folks have a sense of entitlement. What do they expect for $25/100? A free running ad? Honestly, I did wonder about this thread. Why I feel that I do get a good deal, it's hard to make a comparison. While I have found the thread useful, it seems it could be under a different heading. Kickstarter projects as well. While they may not be deals, they are still of interest. There was nothing wrong with your post. I imagine the bump was appreciated.
Wow. Did I miss anything?
On topic: Nathan made me my dreampack based on the Lowline and a few mods, as outlined above. Currently being used as we trek through the Swiss Alps. Highly recommended. Great guy to 'work' with.
