Hi. Version 2 of Stove No.1 (or it might be Version 1 of Stove No.2) seems to be a success and I am wondering if you could recommend what conditions are usually used to gauge it's performance.
Then I can do a thread about it.Eg: how much fuel (metho), how much water in pot (smallish pot), water temperature, simmer point, boiling point etc.
Thanks.
Oct 20, 2007 at 5:07 pm #1406122Hi Ian, glad to see the stove building bug has bit you! Don't know what size stove you've built, but the gold standard seems to be how long does it takes to boil 16 ounces of water, with how much fuel. Also, how long will it burn with 1/2, 1 ounce of fuel.List air temp along with other conditions if possible. Basically just give as much pertinant info as possible. BTW, don't be afraid to set your own standards. If you build a stove with a smallish fuel capacity, or it was designed with a specific use in mind, then the "gold standard" as it were goes out the window. Most important of all, HAVE FUN with it!!
