This really wasn't much of a trip. More of an excuse to get out of the house. There was a serious lack of snow here until recently. It's highly unusual to get out for a non-snow travel trip in February. But when I saw the snow clear out on the south facing part or our yard, I guessed that the CT would be snow free in segment 2, which is pretty exposed in the Buffalo Creek fire burn area and also lower at around 7K. CT hikers mostly dread segment 2. It's hot and has no water. But it's pretty enough in it's own way. And heat was certainly no issue although still had to carry all the water we needed. Started late on Saturday afternoon and headed out Sunday morning. By the time we got back home it was snowing.

Whenever possible, save weight by going stoveless. Steak and shrimp on the grill and potatoes and asparagus in the coals.
