I've pretty much taken the winter off but I'm going to start hiking again in Maine and other nearby places soon. I should probably state that I'm not the lightest of hikers by any standard nor am I particularly fast and I'm easily distracted from my route by, well, just about anything: an interesting feature on a topo map, the possibility of good fishing, bear tracks, blueberries, nanny berries,the chance for a nap in the sun, the list could go on and on. On the other hand I'm happy to catch up with faster hikers later or meet them in the middle of a route and walk with them halfway to facilitate transportation, really whatever works. I've been hiking for years but I'm relatively new to Maine and New England. My goal is to get enough time off to hike in the Monts Groulx region and in other parts of NE Canada but, of course, things keep getting in the way. I live in Central Maine.
