I was wondering if anyone has come across any cheap non-cargo nylon pants. They don't have to be spectacular or super light but something less than $50.

+1 to the Target pants. I've worn mine to weddings, job interviews, work, summer on-trail hiking, bushwhacking in freeze/ thaw conditions in the White Mountains of NH, and out in the snow. You can sometimes find them on clearance for $10 or less. I remember reading someone on BPL having a pair of Patagonia rock craft/guide pants and the target ones, and then returning the Patas.

I ordered some to give them a try but I need a 34" inseam and as high as they go is 32" so I will just see, i can always return them.

I just ordered some as well to try out. I've been looking for an alternative to my parachute pants (REI Sahara) – these might fit the bill. I have some Bluff Works pants that are similar but not nearly as economical.

Didn't work out, 32" is to short but thanks. Anything with cargo pockets?

gramicci rocket dry nylon pants – I have a pair and love them. Gusseted crotch, but no fly. On sale they're less than 50

For X-C ski season, I get my son used, nylon workout pants (Nike, Adidas, no-name) off of eBay for $8-15 / pair. For training, and cross-training in the winter, they're enough if it's above 10F (they're active and they're Alaskan kids) and for races, they can be worn over race tights before and after one's race. They also serve as his primary backpacking long pants. By themselves in cool weather and over PP thermal underwear in cold weather. I get them in school colors (red), but there are black, white and gray options as well.
