I'm putting together gear to summit Rainier in spring/summer (late June?) and do
smaller stuff around the Pacific NW in the winter. I currently have a
Patagonia DAS parka and a 32F down bag.

My impression from the archives is that the North Face Fission or
possibly Cat's Meow is the preferred bag for these activities. The
archives also imply a DAS parka is overkill for day wear. So if I
sleep in the parka, what kind of sleeping bag can I get away with?
Lighter? Down? A half-bag? Quilt?

Are you expecting 32* weather? I think the DAS loft (1.4 single layer) is a little bit too little, according to the BPL statement on bag ratings, you need about .85 inches of single loft more, which would be equivilent perhaps to a light synthetic or down jacket, but if you found a half bag like the Nunatak Akula or Feathered friends Vireo, you'd be golden, as long as you are willing to protect the loft. Also test it out well ahead of time to make sure thats all right.

Thank you, I forgot about the BPL bag rating table, it makes this question much simpler! So in terms of half bags, does it mean I need to add 0.85 inches of loft to my torso? Or will having more than 2.2 inches on my legs make up for that?

I'm still not sure whether I will be able to protect the loft of down. The Wild Things half-bag is the only synthetic half-bag I'm aware of?
