Those Mountain Goats are pesky pests:
Goat, Enchantments

You have to shoo them away

That was 2008. In the 1970s I did several trips but don't remember seeing any goats.

Another "sorry" recipient here. Actually, I haven't heard of anyone who DID get a permit. I've been up there twice for 5+ days each time in the last 4 years, so I'm not complaining. Tons of great trips planned for 2015 that I'm just as excited about.

It's not a 50 mile loop, but there's plenty of granite and stunning views – and zero permits or lotteries – here:

You're teasing me : )

Where is "here"?

That could be Enchantments, Wallowas, Sierras,…

Jerry,

It is hard to find a lot of granite up here. But I like above treeline with view with or without granite. Although granite is nice. :)

Katherine,

I have read enough norse mythology that Aasgard isn't funny.

I could just tell you, Jerry, but that wouldn't be any fun. Are you able to look at the pic in full resolution? Big clue in the background if you can. Closer to Seattle than the Enchantments. Butt kicker hike to get into, but certainly easier than either entry into the Enchantments as well.

Mt Stuart?

PCT South of Stevens Pass – West of Enchantments?

Granite Mountain over Robin Lakes?

#3. It's actually Mount Daniel (with Rainier in the background), but you nailed it with Robin. Teepee is on the right bank if you can see it. Nice area – gonna go back to do some exploring. Topos look like there's a lot of potential off trail opportunities up there.

That was a lucky stab in the dark

Maybe go South from Steven's Pass, to Robin, cross country to Lake Leland, circle back to PCT and Stevens Pass…

I just hate going to Stevens Pass from Portland because of the multitudinous hoards from Seattle : )
