I finally made a limited production run of GOLD Gear XUL all-aluminum, BPA-free, flat-bottom, ribbed beer can pots, and am offering sale prices till they're gone. I have 10 of the 700 ml size and 7 of the 900 ml size:
b

700 ml Can Pot = 20 grams. Regular price $15, on sale for $10.

900 ml Can Pot = 28 grams. Regular price $20, on sale for $15.

Fabricated from large aluminum beer cans which are cut down, press fit into the flat bottoms of aluminum cat food cans and sealed with food-grade silicone sealant. Guaranteed not to leak.

The advantage of all-aluminum construction is that aluminum conducts heat better than steel, and the components have the same thermal expansion coefficient to minimize "working" and stressing the bottom seam.

The BPA-containing plastic lining of the cans is removed safely without the use of toxic solvents by annealing, wire-brushing, and sanding.

The flat bottoms make the cans more user friendly, and present a better angle to stove flames than the original curved and angled beer can bottoms for maximum heat transfer and efficiency. The flat bottoms also have a bulls-eye pattern of rings to assist in centering the pot over a stove or burner.

The benefit of ribs are well-known, and greatly increase the strength and crush resistance of the cans. The ribs are located at 1/2 cup fill line increments for easy measurement of the water.

The outside of the cans is wire-brushed to remove the original graphics and to maximize heat absorption. The annealing process produces a dull gray finish of extra thick aluminum oxide, the same material as sapphires and rubies, and second only to diamonds for hardness and durability. Annealing also reveals purely cosmetic artifacts of the fabrication process that give the pots a rugged, “industrial” look. OK, fugly.

Each pot comes with a 6.3 gram beer can lid. The tab has been bent up for easy lifting. An XUL 2.6 gram aluminum pot lid can be ordered for an additional $2.

Shipping by first class mail to continental US = $3. 2-Day Priority Mail (trackable, insured) = $7. International shipping by special arrangement at cost.

If you’re interested please add a post to the thread, send a PM, or contact me through my web site http://www.goldgear.co (".co" not ".com").

Thanks,
David Gardner

Hi ya Dave. I'll take one of the 700 ml pots. I need one of your SUL stoves and a nokogiri saw as well. PM coming your way.
