I noticed Power Dry long underwear tops/bottoms at a regular price of $25 a piece at LL Bean yesterday. It's listed as "silkweight" and they have midweight for $32. It seems to be a great deal, and I'm considering it for winter.

Does anyone know how this fabric compares to for example the R1 hoodie?

Any idea what the loft/clo is?

Search llbean.com for "power dry" to see what they have.

Think of the R1 as an expedition weight Power Dry with a grid pattern. In fact, you can do more than "think". The R1 was made using Power Dry until this year. This year Patagonia switched to a "greener" material which include some recycled polyster. The new material might still basically be powerdry, but I can't say for certain.

As to whether is good for winter. I would say yes. PowerDry is my favorite material for a base. power stretch is very similar, but has more stretch and some is typically more close fitting.
