My wife wanted a fancy supper for Valentine’s, so I agreed, but I got to choose where we ate- Twin Lakes in the Crazies :)

We’ve been having a lot of warm weather of late, warm enough I was worried if we’d have enough snow to pull my pulk. Turns out we we’re fine in the snow department, fine enough it added two miles of shoeing just to get to the trailhead.

driving in, you can see the lack of snow anywhere but high

it’s a pull into Twin Lakes (roughly 2200′ in 6 miles), but the pulk just fine

Granite Peak ever looming

is this what they mean by a snow bridge?

we made it to Twin Lakes just a dusk

Way to make a guy feel guilty….I spent my Valentines day backpacking with Adan and Michael.

Good stuff, camping lobster is always fun.

*I did take my wife out on Friday and left with her blessings Saturday :)

Great report! Your wife must be pretty special to put up with that sort of "romantic Valentine's dinner." Great view of Granite Peak, Mike. By the way, do you know why they changed the name from Grizzly Peak to Granite decades ago? Maybe to scare the tourists less?

You know, the dinner might have been very fine, but I suspect the morning hot drink was the real Valentines day thing!

But wha did you get out of the tent to work the stove? I am often still in my SB or quilt when making breakfast. Stove in vestibule, out of the wind. Much more comfortable.

Cheers

Nice one Mike. That is a remarkable lack of mid-elevation snow. Pretty soon there will be some GRIZZ around to steal that lobster.

^ :)

Gary- missed your question; it's been Granite Peak for a long time, not sure why or when it was changed-possibly just what you said (and Dave hinted at!)

I think you just seriously raised the bar for Valentine's Day celebration. Love that your wife will get out with you, and want some of your snow, too!
