There are not one but two big problems with 'airmats'. The first is the effort required blowing them up. If you have had a hard day, blowing up a couple of airmats in the evening can leave your head swirling. Worse in many ways is the way blowing up an airmat puts a whole lot of moisture inside your airmat, which eventually collects at the bottom in a puddle. If it's a really cold night, it can even freeze there.
This photo of a little bit of an old POE Ether Elite 6 mat reviewed here shows how much moisture can get into a mat with just one inflation. Imagine what it might be like after a few days. Yes, I have held an airmat up to drain the water out.
