The Tougas Family is embarking on an exciting journey; their ambitious plan is to backpack the Appalachian as a family. This episode introduces their plan, gear, and the individual skills brought to the production by each of the family members. The beauty about this project is that the family is learning how to do this sort of trip from scratch and the end product will be something that others families can use for similar endeavors.

I find it somewhat curious how few comments this entire series has garnered here.

Maybe because you can also watch the videos (for a fee) on the toesalad.com website. I supported the kickstarter project to see them before I realized they would be available to me anyway as a BPL member. Oh well, it went to a good cause.
Definitely cool to see a family do something like this together.
The website is on episode 20 and BPL is 4 episodes behind.
I found a blog by the Kallin family on the AT much more interesting to me than these videos. Still, that said, it's pretty great for a family to get out there and have their kids learn about the environment around them.

Wrong.
My wife had to get off in Vermont due to a stress fracture in her ankle/foot. The rest of us made it though.
Best wishes to her for a speedy recovery.
Maximum kudos to two wonderful parents for taking the kids on the adventure of their lives. The lessons they will learn about each other, themselves, and their inherent abilities will serve them well in later life. The memories will last as long as they live.
