A winter camping backpack needs some extra volume to hold bulky insulated clothing and a warmer sleeping bag. We chose the GoLite Pinnacle because of its light weight (1 pound, 9 ounces), 4400 cubic inch (72 liter) volume, durable 210 denier Dyneema Gridstop fabric, and large capacity front pocket with water-resistant zipper.
The Pinnacle is a frameless backpack, but it will carry a 25 pound load with aplomb. The MSRP is $130 and the pack is currently available.
