The long-handled titanium spoon is the utensil preferred by backpackers who eat food directly out of freeze-dried meal packages.

The first long-handled titanium spoon was made by Backpacking Light community member Bill Fornshell. With Bill’s guidance, Backpacking Light created a mold for it and manufactured it under the Bozeman Mountain Works/Backpacking Light brands in the mid-2000s in partnership with Kingsound Titanium. Now, similar spoons are distributed by several vendors, including Toaks.
