The Kammok Mantis UL (and its slightly heavier companion the Mantis) are all-in-one hammock shelters. They come with (almost) everything you need for a successful hammock shelter system – hammock, stuff sack, removable bug-net, tarp, stakes, lines, knotless attachment clips, integrated line-locs, and suspension.
Strengths
- a great entry-point for backpackers looking to explore hammock systems
- knotless, easy setup
- price is affordable for a decent shelter
Limitations
- not asymmetrically cut for totally flat sleeping (but can be volumized with guy-outs)
- needs additional accessories for organized gear storage – the only pockets are on the removable bug net
- likely won’t appeal to hammock backpackers who enjoy assembling their systems from à la carte components
