Gorewear Shield Socks are the perfect complement to waterproof-breathable footwear in cold, wet conditions. They create a semi-permeable vapor barrier microclimate over your insulating (e.g., wool) sock that won’t entrap a lot of moisture like a true VB sock, since this fabric is highly breathable. A non-waterproof fleece back and heel provides additional breathability and insulation. We like this sock because it focuses on keeping toes warm and dry in cold, wet, or snowy conditions.
Not recommended as a waterproof sock when wearing non-waterproof footwear in very wet conditions. However, when paired with non-waterproof footwear in dry conditions, this sock adds a lot of warmth to your footwear system.
