Now that denatured alcohol is banned here in California, combined with the fact that alcohol stoves have been prohibited for years nearly everywhere I like to camp, it was time to make the switch to canisters.

I love the Windburner. What I like most about the Windburner are (1) the integrated all-in-one system and the fact that it will boil water no matter what the location or conditions (above -10 F). But it weighs nearly a pound. I love the super ultralight BRS3000T-inspired stoves too but they’re worthless in the wind and you have to come up with your own windscreens.

This is an attempt to combine the best of both worlds, with some additional inspiration from Jon Fong’s Flat Cate Snow Leopards and the SimmerShield.

Packing the Ti windscreen by wrapping it around the outside of the Foster’s can and inside the cozy provides significant reinforcement against crushing, so no separate container is needed.

Next: some controlled tests. A prototype has worked well in real world conditions.

I really enjoy seeing what you and Jon and Sam and others come up with when you tinker. I’m not an MYOGer, and never will be, but I sure do like seeing what the rest of you do. So thanks!
