It’s time for another Limerick Contest! To enter the contest, submit a limerick on this post that highlights your love of backpacking. You can enter as many times as you wish. As before, the entry must be in the form of a limerick and cannot include the word Nantucket (though some leeway will be tolerated). Shipping will be included. The contest is open now until June 15th (midnight PST).
What is the prize, you ask? We have just developed a new windscreen for canister-topped stoves: the Ocelot 6 Universal. This partial windscreen (~180 degree) was designed to accommodate pots up to 6” in diameter. Universal in that the windscreen attaches to the fuel canister and so virtually any canister topped stove will work. The windscreen is comprised of three parts and weigh a total of 48 grams.
May 17, 2024 at 11:54 am #3811672I went for a walk in the hills
My pack, it was stuffed to the gills
Jordan was right
I should have gone light
But I couldn’t afford all those bills!Jun 7, 2024 at 8:09 am #38130508 more days left in the contest! You can’t win if you don’t enter. Good Luck
Jun 8, 2024 at 11:47 pm #3813153After a long winter in snow,
Baby green shoots begin to grow.
Sun melts all the ice.
The weather is nice.
The mountains are calling, let’s go!

Jun 24, 2024 at 1:40 pm #3813932One thing I hate
I push my fate
I’m always too late
It’s the same with my bills
Because I’m out in the hills
While I was going through the pass
They turned off my gas
I got caught in a shower
As they turned off my power
Now I sleep in my tent
Because I forgot the rentJun 24, 2024 at 3:39 pm #3813943Congrats to the winners! As Wayne Gretzky once said “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.”
Jun 24, 2024 at 6:27 pm #3813951Nantucket is often portrayed
in limericks as “other than staid”;
but when Jon Fong is hot
as his new Ocelot
the mountains will do him instead.
