    @reverse

    I am trying to find some specs to make a child’s UL sleeping bag. Does anyone have any ideas. An adult bag with the end tucked under does not make a narrow enough bag for a 5 year old. Most of the box store type kids bags besides being out of my price range are too heavy for  5 year-old to carry unless that is all they carry.

    Well it all depends.

    Making a hood less 60″ long draw cord foot bag with a baffled 48″ zipper is a piece of cake.  I can make something like this for about $90 over the cost of everything.  For a simple quilt that size, it would only be about $70 over cost.  Good thing about this is that you get to choose whatever fabric and down-fill you want.

    It seems however that everyone wants all the bells and whistles thrown in to make their quilts resemble a katabatic.

    Just throwing a hood on and you’re taking at least 40% more time to make.  The complications of everything coming together at the top of the zipper are ridiculous.  It came to a point where I didn’t do them anymore because you end up fixing so many mistakes and have to bite it on all the price returns from time spent fixing everything.

    So I stick to making quilts or hoodless bags.  If you’re still interested, let me know.
