Has anyone had success making a simmer ring for the Trail Designs Kojin burner?
My favored ramen needs a few minutes of heat after the initial boil. Right now I can only leave it running full-blast, which goes through a ton of fuel. But I only need a small flame. I’m thinking something similar to the included stove cap, but with a ~1″ hole in the center, would work well.
Here’s one I made out of a beer can for my Zelph stove. That’s a 7/8″ dia hole, drilled with a very sharp spade bit in a drill press before cutting the can down to height. I made the bottom convex by using a bench vice to push out from the inside with a PVC pipe cap that has the appropriate curvature.
I opted for a simple handle attachment by punching small holes through both layers with an awl, and then peening the jagged edges flat. Sort of like a mini-rivet.
If I do another one I’ll probably make the hole 3/4″ & use JB Weld to attach the handle.
