When you fold over and sew the second row of stitches push the fabric really flat and try to get tension on that 2nd row of stitches. In the finished seam, you don’t want the first row of stitches to take all the load.

Dunno about the ball-point needles. I have always used sharps, and never had any problems. I must say I think sharps would handle webbing a lot better – yes?
Sam – I would love diagrams of your seams. What is clear to the writer is sometimes not quite so clear to this poor reader.
