anyone ever reversed the lay on an Original Blackbird? I asked Warbonnet and they say you can’t because one side of the netting is sewn to the hammock. They will make a reverse lay for $25 extra.

but it seems to me that you could reverse one by basically turning the whole thing “inside out”. You would have to undo the continuous loops and redo them in the process, but that shouldn’t be hard. The zipper should still work, though the pull would be on the wrong side if it’s not a dual side style. Otherwise, it seems like it would work… am I missing something?

Tie outs for shelf, etc. would be inside.

@ken- ah yes, didn’t think about those. That would be easily modified w/ some basic sewing though.

I was asking about this cuz I thought the Orig BB was my “ideal” hammock. Lighter than the BBXLC and Eldorado, but bigger than a Traveler, plus it had a net. Unfortunately I hadn’t looked close enough to realize that it’s actually the same size as the Traveler. I already have a Traveler and have spent a couple nights in it… it’s a bit too small so that means there’s no point in pursuing the Orig BB. I ended up getting an eldorado from a WTB in GearSwap and think that’s really gonna be my best option anyway.
