In the past I have been sent links that show weather by the location. You can scroll around a google maps looking screen and click exactly where you want. Gives you a nice forecast for that location, great when dealing with high elevation places. Unfortunately I don’t have a link to any of those pages and can’t find anything like that on their website. Can anyone tell me how to access those pages or link me to a page so I can use the map?

May 27, 2016 at 11:28 pm #3405172Ok, I feel silly now. Didn’t realize you had to click on the map twice to get a page with the scrollable map. I assumed that map on the front was something different. Thanks doug.

- righ-click in any area of the map you are interested
- select “Point info” -> “NOAA Forecast”. and it will provide you with National Weather Forecast adjusted for that particular location.

May 28, 2016 at 7:32 am #3405196and to go with that, the nohrsc snow model to tell you how much snow is on the ground
May 28, 2016 at 10:20 am #3405219I’ve been using those NOAA scroll maps to forecast weather for high sierra trips for years now… just remember, they are only some kind of estimate based on lowland weather station forecasts…. and are often wrong… especially in the mountains where weather patterns are heavily influenced by aspect and land forms. Many micro climates in the mountains and winds vary exponentially with land form influences.

May 28, 2016 at 10:28 am #3405221yeah, but they do factor in elevation and large scale geography
you could be 10 degree F colder or the amount of rain could be more or less than predicted
May 28, 2016 at 10:40 am #3405222or it can rain for a week when the forecast calls for sunny and dry :)
been there, done that…
