    Gary, that reminds me, I forgot to mention that the ambient air temp was 48°F when I did my first test boils.

    And the water kept boiling for a couple of minutes after full boil, so of course it requires somewhat less than 40ml of alcohol (Klean-Strip DA “marine fuel”), although I’m not motivated enough now to do a really well controlled test to find out precisely how much since it’s ‘good enuff’ as is.

    Also, you’re at least 5,300 feet higher in elevation, so about 10°F cooler for a boil!

    IMO, 49 ml to boil 2 cups is not very efficient, I would expect it to be in the 18-20 ml range. My 2 cents.

    My tests were with 3 cups and it took less than 40ml for a boil (it boiled about 2 min past full boil), so say ~35ml for a full boil, which is fairly decent in windy conditions.

    More testing with tighter controls later. I like to use the term ‘gross effect’ for the initial tests which determine merely if something is ‘in the ballpark’ performance-wise.
