So today I was going to cut down my 77” inflatable to a 68-70”’ length, however before following through I came up with a possible solution. I thought maybe I could use the extra 9” length to my own benefit for using it as a pillow attached to itself with a shock cord (surprisingly comfortable). Has anyone done this before? Any foreseeable issues with the setup?

Dec 24, 2017 at 3:48 am #3509125“Preferable” for who? Inflating pad and pillow independently would be preferable for me, but Garrett, if it’s comfortable for you then go for it. Added bonus: cutting your pad will void any warranty on it, by not cutting it you would preserve your warranty.
Dec 24, 2017 at 5:34 am #3509148The inflated levels work well for my particular preference in comfort (pillow height). The non-sliding issue helps as well. The warranty policy is good to know. Looks like I’ll be giving this one a shot.
Dec 24, 2017 at 7:06 pm #3509224Great idea. I’ve used my shoes to prop up my pad but didn’t think to use shock cord. What are the specs on the cord?
As a side sleeper is difficult to get enough height on pillows and still have enough cushion to be comfortable. A firm couple inches as a base and a soft jacket on top to finish is the best setup I’ve used, but requires warm enough temps to not need to wear the jacket.
Dec 24, 2017 at 9:27 pm #3509267Thanks Paul. The shock cord is 25” around from the knock itself. I was rather optimistic prior to its setup, however it works great for me… so far. Oddly enough, its more comfortable than my Nemo Fillo. Don’t ask how or why as I still can’t explain the reasoning behind it.
Dec 25, 2017 at 12:00 am #3509300I must have extra stinky feet or something cause I would never want my shoes near my face at night. I’m throwing up a little in my mouth just thinking about it.
When I first read the title I thought you were going to open the pad up, and slice away a baffle to make a pillow mound. This is much less destructive.
