    Hi All,

I’m using titanium (and stainless steel) shim stock for my pyramid tent chimney and was hoping to credit the person who first used this thin metal for this application.

Anyone know who pioneered this idea?

    Thanks, Darren

I don’t know who first had the idea for a roll-up stove pipe, but Titanium Goat has been doing this since 2005.

Hey thanks for your reply Philip,

It would be cool if it was TiGoat that came up with the idea. I got my first piece of titanium from him when I was in Salt Lake City in 2012. I believe he has passed on and I don’t know his name (didn’t see it on the website archive either).

    Cheers, Darren

From The Road three person winter shelter

Here is my tent. It’s for a three person rope team going for remote high mountains in Western Canada in winter.

That looks cozy. Does the shelter use an insulation layer?

We still think the TiGoat WiFi stove is the best design. That’s why I shamelessly copied it.

and is the inside of the tent reflective?  That should make it a little warmer

The tent has some reflective material on the bottom and top, but the main panels are uncoated nylon. For myself moisture management is more important than insulation and this tent breathes really well (that’s what a good sleeping bag is for).

The tent has an integrated boiler for melting snow and boiling water and it can be converted to a wood burning stove quickly and easily.

This shelter is very specialized and should only be used for camping high on snow in winter conditions by three people. Anything else would be a mistake.

    Thanks for your interest, Darren

    Here is my tent.

Looks like a super setup. Do you mind sharing a link to who makes it?

I make it. There is no link.

A guy by the name of Tim (timtinker) did a little article for his website. Here it is:
