What a beautiful story, and a memorable adventure, burns included.  Thank you!

I really enjoyed this write up and all the photos. I hope your hand healed well!

It was a bit blistered and discolored for a while but no permanent effects. I was just glad it was the back of my hand not the palm. Trek poles down the headwall would have been excruciating on the way down if it had been the palm.

Thanks for the entertaining write-up.  You’re inspiring me to plan a hut trip this winter!  I also loved tour West Coast Trail write up from 2018.  My boss keeps hassling me to do it but sounds like a suffer-fest! I’ve been sticking to the Olympic coast.

It’s really not that bad if you don’t get an injury. The medics told me the trail god’s are trying to tell me something 😂.

That said I’ll probably attempt again (with crampons for the slimy sections) because I’m a sore loser. The good news (or bad news if you are an introvert who avoids hiker highways) is the trail is now available in a three day version which is more bite sized.
