The family and I spent 4 days and 3 nights beach-packing on Catalina Island (April 6th to 9th 2021). My intention was for us to complete the entire trans Catalina trail (TCT) but a few of the designated campsites were already full so we improvised, and are glad we did. One picture from each day is below. For all pictures and more info check out the “backpacking” section of CaseyAndEmily.com or go straight to the google album with this link:
Heading down Sheep Chute Road at the end of Day 1, looking forward swimming in the ocean. The day started at 5 am with a drive to Long Beach where we caught the ferry. A bit before 9 am we started hiking and finished around 5 pm, about 15 or 16 miles later.
Day 2 was a zero day, and it was glorious. Especially when most people left to hike to the next sites and before new people showed up. We swam six times over the four days.
Leaving Little Harbor Campground on Day 3. Today would be an easy day, only a bit over 5 miles to Two Harbors.
Day 4. Heading from the campground into the tiny town of Two Harbors to catch the ferry back to the Los Angeles area.
