    Hilleberg told me to just brush the zipper out every day. They don’t suggest using lube. Yes that would only attract more silt and abrasive particles that will wear out the metal zipper guide faster.

    Certainly you should not use anything which is sticky or could hold dirt. That would be bad.
    But, there at least three tings you could consider:
    Zipper dry lube – it exists
    Teflon powder or spray
    Graphite powder – useful stuff and can work well on zips

    For myself, I would go for the graphite. I do have two puffers of it, partly for this. It does not really leave much of a colour mark.

    What I use to clean a dirty zipper:

    Electric toothbrush with retired old brush head

    When I told my dental hygienist of many years (she knows me) about this use of dental tools, she gave me this incredulous look and said, “…why am I not surprised?” :)))
